Kokomo - A Caribbean Experience that will Transport You to a Well-Deserved Vacation in WillyB.

Updated: Feb 24, 2021

Bermuda, Bahama, come on pretty mama! Kokomo was extremely upbeat, the service was phenomenal and the food was orgasmic. Boasting a "Caribbean Experience," and delivering. It's assumingly named after the Beastie Boys song, Kokomo, and it truly does embody that song down to the 1980's hotel lobby vibes with the vibrant modern twist with Caribbean décor.

It's reminiscent of an upscale Miss Lilly's with a lively outdoor area lined with palm trees and heaters. It was heated pretty well though a coat might still be required. I am ecstatic to hit this spot in the summertime, open air, steel drums playing in the background- I'm positive it will be wall to wall packed.

Indoor dining opening up only heightened the experience of this place as the inside is energetic and pulsating with extravagance. You may even find yourself seated on a swing, because why not?

The menu is vast, with flatbreads that are out of this world, topped with such Caribbean delicacies as ackee, oxtail, and sautéed callaloo. Yes, I of course googled these because while Caribbean food may not be my specialty, good food is most assuredly a universal tongue.

The biggest draw for me are the vegan options! From pasta to tacos to lentil meatballs with coconut curry sauce- it's a vegans dream come true. I want to go back a million times to try everything for dinner, but the brunch shook us on arrival with the presentation, then the first bite? Heads exploded- flavor packed bowls and burgers are an understatement. The Jerkmi Burger is sinfully good.

The grand finale? The cocktails! Every cocktail seems to be crafted with a fine tuned hand and each one is an experience in it's own right. For example, you may just find a certain Bob Marley floating around in your "Good Vibez." Who knows what garnish or tiki glass you may receive. But while it's a $15 cocktail, you will enjoy every last sip. The Carribbean Irish Coffee is all you need during these colder months, it is the perfect pairing with any meal.

They are offering a BOTTOMLESS Brunch on Fridays from 11-4pm and if you see me there during working hours, mind your business.

And the icing on the cake- or the coconut whipped cream and caramel rum syrup on the rum raisin bread pudding- is you get to SUPPORT BLACK OWNED BUSINESSES.

This is a very impressive spot for a celebratory dinner or brunch to enjoy the intricate cocktails and diverse menu options. A vacation for the soul and definitely a new destination for your taste buds, this place is a must try in WillyB.

This is where we want to go, way down in Kokomo.
