Recruiting to the Big Leagues Date Ideas This Fall

CUFFING SEASON IS HERE! So is Holiday Season, which I attribute to the days within Halloween-Valentine's Day. We're in recruiting season now and it's time for some fielding. New York is set up so beautifully for this time, this list practically writes itself. Here's the Fall crafted list.

First dates to the big leagues.

First Dates:

CELLAR DOG. Once known as Fat Cat, Cellar Dog in Greenwich is still the greatest place to enjoy a first date. There's billiards, ping pong, shuffle board, live jazz, arcades, and chess a plenty, so even if the date sucks, you're sure to have a good time.

On the UES is Coffee and Tiramisu at Via Quadronno, perfect for coffee and pastries, and if all goes well, a lovely stroll through Central Park.

If you've got a Gowanus or Prospect Heights date, I highly recommend shuffle board at the Royal Palms. Then walk on over to Pig Beach for some delicious barbecue and amazing outdoor courtyard/setting.

Second/Mid Date Ideas:

THE BEST DATE EVER:

TAKE A TRAM OVER THE CITY TO A ROOFTOP BAR: Do you see this view?? This one will have to be a second date, because you can't just throw out this caliber of date to anyone. After you've decided they're worthy of a second, take the Roosevelt Island Tramway at 60th on the UES to Roosevelt Island. From there, walk over to Panorama Room (Reservation Required.) for one of the greatest dates of all time. Serious relationships, second dates, bring family here. It's one of those things that's not overdone yet, and will surprise and captivate. Drinks are pricey but this view is priceless.

Pixar Putt Putt at Pier A -Get tickets here for after dark (to avoid kids) & get them before Oct 31 as that's when this pop up is over!! Toy Story, Shrek, imagine the joy that this will bring any American date you have. This is such a fun date idea, you can't miss. If you can't get in- don't forget about the classic Pier 25 putt putt spot as well.

Comedy Shows- Check The Highlights on @TheNewYorkSpark for regular comedy shows any day of the week but Stand Up A La Mode, Stand Up with Ample Hills Ice Cream in Gowanus is a perfect pick, whether you're nearby or not.

Boat Cruises- A simple google will pull up all the fall boat options but here's the summer article to see the big names in the game.

Have you heard of SOFAR SOUNDS? Shhhh! It's a secret. Google it and if you're accepted, you'll be invited to exclusive shows of eclectic and amazing artists you've never heard of. Not only will this make you seem well-versed in all things New York City, but most are BYOB. They announce the location only a day or two ahead of time, and you never know if it'll be a cool old distillery, someones apartment, or the foyer of a nice hotel- but Sofar Sounds never disappoints.

THE MET. I love the Met, everyone loves the Met, while they've probably already been. Even suggesting a museum is always a great idea. The conversation never stops as the art continues to impress.

Brooklyn Botanical Garden- In Autumn, when the fall foliage dresses up the garden in all it's magnificence, this spot in unrivaled.

e Bar & Uncommon Grounds for board games and drinks/coffee! UWS/Greenwich Village. A lovely option to enjoy each others company whilst there are distractions abound, as if to prepare for any lulls.

Concerts- An obvious one, but I'm not talking arena tour. Check out Rockwood Hall, Webster Hall, Bowery Ballroom, or Brooklyn Steel for low key, cheap tickets and more obscure bands.

Serious Relationships/ Heavy Dating:

Upstate Trip:

This is a MUST. My favorite weekend of the entire year. If you have the funds, rent a car, the roads are some of the greatest pieces of these trips, when the Fall foliage is at its peak it is truly some of the most life giving moments of all time.Otherwise, find a train route, you have no excuse.

There is no shortage of options for what to do and where to go.

A perfect itinerary would be hiking Bear Mountain Park. Can't recommend the views/colors/water enough. We then went to Maganini Winery, watched live music, had wine, meat/cheese, and frozen apple cider. Then headed to our resort- Honor's Haven Retreat. They had fire pits, s'mores kits, a gym, a beautiful pond out back. Wake up for sunrise, the imagery of the lake fog and color of the sky reflected off the water at dawn is burned into my memory. We planned it a few days ahead but with better planning you could do even more.

The Roundhouse at Beacon has a lovely and famous waterfall, not only is it a restaurant but a HIGHLY RECOMMENDED hotel with all around beautiful views.

Wherever you stay, there's small town charm, amazing drives, ta plethora of trails and wineries to enjoy.

Cocktail Classes at Raines Law Room

$115 a ticket means this isn't for someone you're planning on ghosting next week. An experience well worth it however as one cocktail here would run you just as much anyway.

Helicopter Ride at Sunset

$160 Flight over Manhattan. So you're planning on marrying them? That's when you insert this big leagues dating idea. Ask them to be your significant other while doing this. They can't say no!

The Opera

The Met's Opera options are spectacular. They have Holiday shows of Cinderella and the Magic Pipe or Tosca or Ariadne auf Naxos for more thoughtful people of interest. Dress up, take them to a fancy dinner and a night of Opera for a true night of dreams.
