A Day/Night in Greenpoint Brooklyn

Updated: May 10, 2021

The G Train is no ones favorite but coming up at Nassau makes it all worthwhile. Whether you're greeted by sunshine or twinkly lights and resounding music, the vibrant crowd and open streets will assure you you've arrived.

An easy, not overly curated itinerary would be to

1. Head to the Greenpoint Terminal Market for some great food vendors and local shops.

2. Hit up some galleries and vintage shops

3. Catch some sun, read a book in the park.

4. Enjoy a beautiful dinner (BaoBurg) followed by a Brooklyn underground comedy show or movie screening.

Keep scrolling for some of the countess options of things to do and try in Greenpoint!

I'm always one to recommend a brunch be added to any itinerary. It's not hard to walk around and stumble into a place matching your energy so having one in mind isn't a requirement. While I've heard Jungle Cafe for some Vegan fare is top notch and has a beautiful outdoor seating a MUST TRY BRUNCH ALERT * seems to be Rule of Thirds. Aesthetically lovely. The Japanese brunch menu looks spectacular as does dinner.

Rule of Thirds also offers private bungalows for 6-10 people too which would make for a great birthday or other celebration. They have a make your own sushi package as well! An idyllic Brooklyn spot. MUST MUST MUST get the Japanese Soufflé Pancake.

VINTAGE SHOPPING & GALLERIES

Vintage Shops

I couldn't mention a day in Brooklyn without a mention of vintage stores. Here are some top tier options: Awoke Vintage, Mirth Vintage, The Flagship store of Beacon's Closet, Feng Sway and Dusty Rose Vintage.

Calico Brooklyn

A gallery of select lineup of local and national artists with a focus on small works, fine craft, and artist-made goods.

Greenpoint Terminal Gallery

Especially if you're headed to the market, you can't miss the Gallery in a factory building with contemporary artists across all mediums.

The Greenpoint Gallery

Established in 2004 by artist and musician Shawn James, The Greenpoint Gallery is a non-profit arts organization focused on emerging artists and offering classes, lectures, career counseling and affordable exhibition space. By fostering both creativity and business skills, our mission is to empower artists and help them navigate the art market as well as establish a path towards achieving their career goals.

Film Noir Cinema

Check out the calendar for their selection of movies and don't forget to donate to help support their losses amongst COVID!! https://www.gofundme.com/f/m85pvu-keep-us-alive?utm_campaign=p_cp_url&utm_medium=os&utm_source=customer

Greenpoint Terminal Market- A Market with a View

Saturdays and Sundays at 10am-5pm offers a one-of-a-kind marketplace featuring creatives, food vendors & local shops.

Skyline Drive- In

Who has a car in New York? Not a lot of people though I know it's become an investment since COVID times and the need for escapes so if you know someone with a car- this is a must visit. The skyline view and vintage drive-in vibes make for a can't-miss experience.

Comedy Show

A little Uber away but one of the few regularly operating throughout every weekend outdoor comedy shows in Brooklyn - https://www.brooklynundergroundcomedy.com/?gclid=CjwKCAjwkN6EBhBNEiwADVfya6wVuQJeR0pJU9w_hvun0-g3X1KvbWGg5vvKm4HI7uBGfaJZhunlrxoCrhwQAvD_BwE

Bowling

Head to Gutter for a dive bar atmosphere and lanes! You pull a ticket and you'll have a while to wait since the lanes are limited but the setting you're waiting in is a vibe.

Vital Climbing Gym

This place will definitely catch your eye, this bright rock climbing gym would be a great active date but it is.. a lot harder than it looks so I hope you have strong hands.

Drinking

The Springs

The Springs didn't have to go that hard for us but she did. The pictures should tell you everything you need to know about the scene. The $11 shot and beer combo will be the backbone for the most splendid day with friends! Large groups welcome!

Threes Brewing

A Beer lovers dream but also offering a full bar. It's known for it's wide selection and perfect day drinking setting.

Keg & Lantern

A bar and microbrewery with some good eats and quite a selection of draft beer. Sports fans welcome.

Greenpoint Beer & Ale CO

This is the coolest spot to drink outdoors, it's German inspired food selection with a killer airy layout, when those big doors are open on a beautiful Summer day, the roofdeck is poppin' it's the greatest environment.

The place to be! A Danish-inspired tap room I'm told is chock-full of attractive men. The Nordic interior is exquisite and while they have 21 taps they also serve cocktails for those less interested in the beers.

Sunshine Laundromat

This lowkey pinball arcade/museum and bar is a speakeasy style killer spot. Looks like a laundromat but there's SO MUCH MORE inside!

Food

Peter Pan Donut and Pastry Shop

The best old fashioned style donuts around! This place has been around since the 1950's and it never disappoints.

Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory

Can't go wrong with some homemade Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory ice cream.

Coffee

There are no shortages of coffee places in the area but there are a few worth mentioning.

Homecoming

Cafe Grumpy

If you ever watched HBO's Girls, this was the café Ray worked and ran. We love a cinematic moment.

Get Some Fresh Air!

McCarren Park

McCarren Park is a great place for a morning workout or a Farmers Market on Saturday morning! They used to have movies in the park too so let's keep our eyes on the horizon for that. There’s a running track, bocce ball court, handball courts, soccer fields, softball area, volleyball courts, and plenty of space for any other sport imaginable.

WNYC Transmitter Park

Right on the waterfront of the East River with that Manhattan city skyline is another great park. Small but a beautiful place for a picnic with a view. The pier makes for a great pic as well.

Bushwick Inlet Park & Marsha P Johnson Park

Technically in Williamsburg but close enough to the border to add it to the itinerary. Also on the East River on the Bushwick Inlet, with more sweeping views of Manhattan and the city skyline. You can never have too many picnic spots on a glorious day.

Very eco friendly with a green community center powered by solar panels and geothermal heating! Sustainability honey. They also have soccer, lacrosse, and football fields!

Kingsland Wildflower

The nature conservation center at Kingsland Wildflower definitely makes the list as a unique itinerary item. It's an oasis and rooftop garden that has projects and space for natural habitats for wildlife populations. They only open the roof while they're having events so be sure to check the website for what's going on!
