What to do on a HOT Day in New York City.

Some days, when that heat is suffocating, even a good brunch or a park picnic is never going to suffice. If you're determined to get some drinks in public go to Gilligans, or Gitano, with some great beach vibes in their tropical garden themed restaurants to transport you somewhere where the heat makes sense. Frying Pan or Grand Banks are literal floating boats on the water to enjoy some drinks, the breeze on the water should help immensely.

ROCKAWAY BEACH

The greatest thing you can do is going to be ROCKAWAY BEACH. On a 90 degree day there are few activities in New York City that make more sense than going to Rockaway Beach. You can roadtrip it with a cooler or head there via subway for what will be ultimately the best day ever. The water is absolutely freezing but it is pure perfection to dip your toes in on a blisteringly hot day.

Even as a loner you can head there with a book and lay out- not exactly peaceful but you won't die of heatstroke the way you would on your 110 degree rooftop in the Village. Otherwise, go with a group, pack a cooler and bring an umbrella for the ultimate set up and have a glorious day.

Pro tip : Pack plenty of water.

HOTEL POOL

You will need to book far in advance but head to a HOTEL POOL. Find a Day Pass for the Dream Downtown, LES Sixty, and most especially Williamsburg Hotel. It'll run you $100-$200 for certain times but wow, when you need a dip, to feel very bougie, to meet cool people and enjoy the Daycation you deserve- this is the best move.

BOAT CRUISES

A simple Google search will provide all you need. Decide on a brunch boat, sunset cruise, happy hour cruise, party cruise- the options are endless and the wind is essential to not dying of heat stroke.

DO-IT-YOURSELF POOL PARTY

Friend have a roof? Even if your friend doesn't have a roof, you have a a multitude of parks, get freaking creative. Get a mini pool on Amazon!! Might take a while to fill it up with a park water fountain, but you gotta do what you gotta do. It also makes for the best day ever.

Try a massive batch of frose in some giant Yeti's to keep them cool. The perfect touch to a DIY summer day!
